Piyesa 2025, the highly anticipated annual organizational communication conference held in the University of the Philippines Manila, successfully concluded last May 7, 2025 at the UP Manila Theater with 150 attendees from UP Manila, UP Diliman, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, and City University of Pasay.

Set to mobilize the theme “Komunikasyong Makamasa, Nag-uugnay at Nagpapalaya,” PIYESA 2025 seeks to redefine the identity and boundaries of Organizational Communication (OrCom), going beyond bureaucratic and corporate environments. 

PIYESA 2025 aims to highlight the vital role of OrCom in addressing the diverse needs and advocacies of marginalized and everyday Filipinos, such as workers, migrants, farmers, women, youth, and indigenous peoples. By challenging traditional stereotypes, PIYESA positions Organizational Communication as a dynamic force for social change and professional growth, empowering students to become catalysts for true progress in any industry they pursue.

“Bilang mag-aaral ng komunikasyong pang-organisasyon, o ‘di kaya ng iba’t iba pang mga kurso— handa ka bang lumabas sa apat na sulok ng silid-aralan, at sa darating na panahon kapag ika’y isang propesyunal na– at makiisa sa pagbubunyag at pagbubunga ng pagbabago sa ating sistema gamit ang iyong husay, talino, at pakikiisa sa masa?” said PIYESA’s conference director, Ms. Kirsten Lopez, during her opening remarks.

Piyesa 2025 featured talks and open forums with Atty. Renee Co of Kabataan Partylist, Aly Dimaculangan or also known as ‘theblessedbhie’ on social media, and Jewel Sumayang of Human Heart Nature– each respectively focusing on how communication drives social justice, social equity, and social responsibility.

The conference serves as a reminder that students from various institutions remain deeply connected to the masses, emphasizing the core principles of social equity, responsibility, and justice. Piyesa 2025 challenges students to step beyond the classroom and actively engage as professionals in driving systemic change and recognizing themselves as essential pieces in creating a progressive society that advances the rights and welfare of the Filipino people.

Piyesa 2025 ended the event with a lightning rally led by the organizers carrying the calls for liveable wage, genuine agrarian reform, humane working conditions, and inclusive human rights. As PIYESA formally concludes, the movement continues as each empowered person becomes an active and progressive piece of a bigger social change.
