BINI issues an apology after video involving some of its members circulated online

Nation’s girl group BINI has released a statement regarding the video involving some of its members recently circulated online.

The clip left people disappointed, as they expressed their concern over what they deemed to be an inappropriate sexual joke.

They collectively acknowledged how the past few days have been “triggering and disappointing” in the released statement.

“The video shows a private moment of us with friends. We definitely did not intend to hurt anyone in the process. We offer no excuse for our actions, reactions, and choice of words. We take full accountability. Nagkamali kami [We made a mistake],” their statement reads.

BINI also stated that they regret their mistake and apologized to their fans, friends, families, and the general public.

“We humbly ask for a chance to reflect on and learn from our mistakes and continue to work on becoming better versions of ourselves. Maraming salamat po sa inyong malasakit, suporta, at pang-unawa [Thank you very much for your concern, support, and understanding],” they ended their statement.

Social media users weighed in on their released statement online, expressing their thoughts on the said matter.

One user wrote, “Sana this time alam nyo na kanino kayo sasama. Di lahat ng tao genuine. Yung iba gagamitin lang kasikatan nyo para mahila kayo pababa [I hope this time you know who you’re going with. Not all people are genuine. Others will just use your popularity to drag you down].”

Another user wrote, “Please do better next time. Not for other people, but for yourselves. Alam kong alam nyo na ‘to [I know you know this already], but it matters that you keep your integrity. It matters so that when you look in the mirror, you’re happy with the person looking back at you. I won’t look for publicized actions. Do them on your own. Isabuhay nyo yung pagbabago [Apply the change in your life]. But also, be kind to yourself as you learn. Be critical, but compassionate. Kaya nyo yan [You can do this]. This is part of growth. It does get better, I promise. But you have to do it, everyday.”

A third user wrote, “Saying the video shows a private moment with friends makes it sound like the main problem is that it leaked, not necessarily what was said or done. It gives the impression that if it had stayed private, then it wouldn’t have been an issue, which misses the bigger point.”
